Patients who require additional diagnostic testing or a higher level of treatment, such as the placement of stents, balloon angioplasty or coronary artery bypass surgery, are referred to Trinity Mother Frances Heart Institute in Tyler.

As the leading provider of heart care in east Texas since 1983, Trinity Mother Frances Heart Institute has the most advanced technology of any facility in the region, including equipment to treat heart blockages in the cath lab instead of the surgery suite and surgical robots that enable surgeons to perform heart surgery without cracking the chest, which means fewer stitches, less pain and faster recovery. In the past two decades, more than 10,000 open heart surgeries have been performed at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

Felix D. Lugo-Adams, MD, FACC

Trinity Clinic - Canton is pleased to offer the services of cardiologist Felix D. Lugo-Adams, MD, FACC. Dr. Lugo-Adams received Fellowship training in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Louisville and in Cardiovascular Medicine at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan. As a Trinity Clinic cardiologist, Dr. Lugo-Adams performs catheterizations in our state-of-the-art Cath Lab within the Heart Center in Canton where he also offers pacemaker and defibrillator clinical services, nuclear stress testing, echocardiograms and other invasive and non-invasive cardiology services. Dr. Lugo-Adams is one of the few specialists in the region with experience and training in electrophysiology. He is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.



Marina Flaskas, MD

Trinity Clinic Canton is please to offer the services of Dr. Marina Flaskas to the citizens in the counties west of Tyler. Dr. Flaskas spends her time seeing patients in Trinity Clinic Canton and Trinity Clinic Athens, and also spends one day a week in Tyler. This approach to providing care in multiple locations allows Dr. Flaskas to fulfill her vision of providing care to as many patients as possible, even in rural areas. Dr. Flaskas attended medical school in Omsk, Russia and was inspired to study medicine because of her mother’s illness. Her dedication to her patients and delight in her ability to provide excellent cardiac services to patients even in rural settings in America is why we are glad she is here to serve east Texas as a Trinity Clinic Cardiologist. Dr. Flaskas is Board Certified in Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is Board Certified in Echocardiography by the American Board of Cardiology.
